To analyze a Webull or Robinhood chart with AI: switch the chart to candles, turn on the price axis and volume, rotate the phone to landscape, screenshot, crop away the app chrome, and upload two timeframes rather than one. The crop and the candle switch do more for the quality of the read than any prompt trick, because a vision model can only score structure it can actually resolve in the image.

Webull and Robinhood are the two apps most US retail traders actually look at, and both ship a default chart that is optimized for glanceability rather than analysis.
Robinhood's default compact chart view is the worst offender: a smoothed line chart, no visible price axis, no volume, and a color that changes based on whether the day is green. There is no structure in that image. No wicks means no rejection, no bodies means no conviction, no volume means no participation, and no axis means no measurable level. An AI read of that picture can honestly only tell you the line went up, which you already knew.
The fix on Robinhood is not really a settings fix, it is a surface change: Robinhood Legend is the advanced charting experience, it carries candlesticks, a proper price axis, volume and a library of technical indicators, and as of 2026 it is free on all account tiers rather than gated behind Gold. If Legend is available to you, capture there instead of in the compact view and most of the rest of this section stops being necessary.
Webull's default is better: candles, a labeled axis, and volume below. It is still wrapped in a navigation bar, a bottom order ticket, and a tab strip, all of which eat pixels and occasionally confuse a model into commenting on your account balance.
Both are fixable in about fifteen seconds, and doing so is the actual skill here.
The two-minute mobile capture recipe
1. Switch to candles. Robinhood: use Legend if you have it, otherwise tap the chart and then the candle icon in the chart controls. Webull: the chart type selector sits in the toolbar above the chart. Candlesticks carry open, high, low and close, which is four times the information a line carries and the entire basis of candlestick chart reading.
2. Turn on the price axis and volume. In Webull both live in the chart settings gear. On Robinhood, the expanded chart view exposes the axis. Without an axis, every level in the read is an estimate. With one, the good levels are measurements.
3. Rotate to landscape. This roughly doubles the number of candles on screen. It is the single highest-leverage action in this list, and it costs one wrist movement.
4. Screenshot. iPhone: side button plus volume up. Android: power plus volume down. Both write a full-screen PNG.
5. Crop hard. Use the built-in photo editor immediately. Remove the status bar, the top nav, the bottom order ticket, and the tab bar. What should remain is candles, the price axis, the time axis, and the volume panel. Nothing else.
6. Do it twice. Once on the daily or 4-hour, once on the 15-minute or 5-minute. Two images, uploaded together, with a sentence saying which is which.

Choosing the timeframe pair, not the timeframe
The mistake that produces useless mobile reads is capturing a single 5-minute chart and asking what the stock is doing. A 5-minute phone chart in landscape shows perhaps 80 candles, which is under two sessions. Every level that matters on a high-beta name sits outside that window.
Pair them instead, and match the pair to your holding period:
- Day trade, same session: daily for structure, 5-minute for position. The daily tells the model where the prior session's high and low sit and whether there is a gap to reference; the 5-minute tells it where price is inside that.
- Swing, several days to weeks: weekly for structure, daily for position. The weekly carries the multi-month shelf that a daily chart cuts off.
- Anything longer: monthly and weekly, and accept that a phone capture is now a convenience rather than a tool.
One note specific to mobile: a phone chart's time axis is compressed, so the model's sense of how long a consolidation lasted is weaker than on desktop. If duration matters to your read, say it in words. "This range has held for eleven sessions" is worth more than any amount of squinting at the axis.
A worked TSLA and NVDA example
These two are the most screenshotted charts on both apps, and they behave differently enough to illustrate the point.
TSLA, daily plus 15-minute. Capture a daily covering roughly four months and a 15-minute covering the last two sessions. Prompt with context:

No recommendation and no position sizing.
What a competent read returns on a name like TSLA: a wide daily range with well-defined edges, a note that the candles have large bodies and long wicks relative to the range (which is what high realized volatility looks like on a chart), the range edges as the reference levels, and two scenarios keyed off whether the current test of an edge holds. Because the daily ranges are large, the invalidation level will sit far from the current price, and that distance is exactly what should shrink your size.
NVDA, same pair. The structure usually reads cleaner: trend continuation with shallower pullbacks and a tighter relationship to its moving averages. The useful part of the AI read here is less "where is support" and more "is this pullback still inside the trend's normal behavior, and what price says it is not". Ask that question directly.
The comparison is the real output. Same capture recipe, same questions, two names, and the difference in the answers tells you which one is offering a structurally cleaner setup this week. That is a judgment you can make in four minutes with two phone screenshots, and it is the honest case for doing this at all.

What the AI does not do
It does not see your broker account. A cropped chart carries no positions, no buying power, no pattern day trader status, and no cost basis. If you upload an uncropped screenshot that happens to include your P&L, the model may comment on it, and that comment is not analysis.
It does not know a name is about to report. TSLA into a delivery number and NVDA into earnings are the two most common ways a clean structural read becomes irrelevant within a day. Nothing in the picture says an event is coming. Check the calendar yourself.
It does not see live price. The read describes the screenshot. On a 5-minute chart of a volatile name, that image is stale within minutes.
It cannot measure what the mobile axis does not print. This is the mobile-specific limit and it is real. Four or five labeled prices across a full range means most of what the model reports as a level is interpolated. Good tools say so. Ones that return three decimal places from a phone screenshot are inventing precision, and that habit will not be confined to the levels.
It does not account for spreads, liquidity, or slippage. A structural level on an illiquid small cap is a different proposition from the same level on NVDA, and the chart image does not carry the difference.
It does not decide anything. The read hands you a structured description and two conditional paths. Choosing whether to act, at what size, with what stop, is entirely yours.
Turning phone reads into a habit that helps
Mobile capture is fast enough to do daily, and that is its advantage over a desktop workflow. The risk is that fast and casual becomes fast and sloppy.
Three guardrails keep it honest. Fix the recipe so images are comparable across weeks. Ask for the same fields every time, so you can diff reads. And log each one, because a trading journal with the read attached is what eventually tells you whether your own interpretation or the model's was closer.

- Reading the underlying's chart works exactly the same way.
